FCT UBEB MANAGEMENT MEETING WITH ALL THE PRINCIPAL OF JUNIOR SECONDA

The director FCT UBEB Dr. Adamu Noma Jatau has challenged the principals of Junior Secondary Schools in Abuja on effective management and service delivery in their various schools.

‘The FCT administration is unhappy with the lack of dedication and proper management of schools by the principals’ He made this speech at the interactive meeting between the management staff of UBEB and principals, on the heels of resumption of schools for new academic session.

He urging principals talked about dedication to duty; on Security matters in schools; proper keeping of school records; Authorization of NGO\other state holder activities in schools; Illegal charges in schools; Release of teachers for further studies; prompt reporting of serious disciplinary issues to the board; proper monitoring of academic activities in schools; Maintenance of clean and healthy school environment; cordial relationship between the school and its community.

Conclusively, he said the materials received by any school should be documented, signed and put into good use, he further stressed that Testimonials will be given in batches by the board.

The H.O.D Administration UBEB, Mr. Yusuf Adebayo in his contribution, urged principals of the various schools enforce/ encourage discipline.

The H.O.D Works UBEB, Mr. Obikwe Amaechi mentioned infrastructure with emphasis on salvage materials.

The H.O.D Social Mobilization UBEB, Mall. Garba Gambo buttressed the director’s point on community –school relationship.

Lastly, the H.O.D Information UBEB, Mr. Mohammed Sani said that the schools should not allow unauthorized interview, autograph and pictures from anyone except those ones approved by the board.

There was an interactive session with Principals shortly after the Director’s exit from the venue: the session was anchored by Bernard Odinga. It was an avenue to sort out pending issues on the online aspects of the Boards admission process and to answer questions from principals on the web portal activities.

On web site update, Mr. Jones Ajayi of PLOVTECH, an IT manager said the improvement of the old Board’s website allows for mobile transfer of students information from the school to the Board at any point in time. He said a database of every student information will be on the site.

He went further to say that the improvement reduces paper work, longer shelf life and it’s easily accessible when any information is needed about the student.

Issue of training school administrators for the twenty four portals was announced by the TCCWP chairman and the date given as 7^th September, same venue. He said each school would nominate a staff for the training on how to operate and take care of their websites.
