FCT UBEB SCHOOL RECEIVES CHINESE AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

32 Learners and 20 Teachers of China Assisted Primary School Nyanya have been awarded Scholarship by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria to support them in teaching and learning.

In her remarks at the event, Ms. Liang Huilu, wife of Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria on behalf of her husband expressed gratitude to the Management of FCT Universal Basic Education Board for their efforts in promoting cultural exchange and cooperation between Nigeria and China.

Ms Huili stated that 2023 marks the 52th Anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between both countries and this is driven by the initiative of Sharing Chinese Harmony and Performing Nigeria and China Symphony.

She disclosed that the robust and mutual relationship between the countries have yielded fruitful results in terms of promotion of political mutual trust and better coordination of international and regional affairs of China and Nigeria.

Education , she maintained is very critical to the advancement and civilization of people especially children as it enhances critical thinking , builds their power of imagination and creative abilities as well as guides learners to their chosen careers. She encouraged the young learners to learn Chinese Language so that they can have a taste and magic of Chinese cultural heritage.

In his speech, the FCT UBE Board Acting Executive Chairman,Dr. Alhassan Sule who could not hide his joy at such display of magnanimity maintained that Education is the bedrock of any meaning development and offers windows of opportunities for attainment of growth of individuals.

He commended the Embassy for their activities in FCT UBEB Schools and added that this year alone the Board has benefitted from a total of five programmes of the Embassy geared towards the development of Basic Schools in the Territory.

He therefore thanked the Embassy profusely for the numerous support in the provision of educational and sporting materials given to the learners.

He also encouraged the pupils who are yet to receive the award to work hard so that they too can be recognized the next time such award is being conducted.

Remarking at occasion, the Deputy Director NGO and Bilateral relations,Mr. Emmanuel Anthony disclosed that the China Assisted Primary School is the only beneficiary of 2023 Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award and this was purely done at the wisdom and decision of the Embassy to honour outstanding performances in the school.

He implored the Embassy to extend opportunity to Management of the Board and students to travel to China in order to learn the language which will promote better cross fertilization of ideas.
