FCT UBEB CHAIRMAN AND 36 SUBEBs CHAIRMEN ATTEND UBEC NATIONAL CONFERENCE 

 

The FCT Universal Basic Education Board Executive Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed and Chairmen of the 36 States Universal Basic Education Boards were stakeholders in a Two-day National Conference on Teacher Professional Development.

 

The Conference was organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission(UBEC).

 

The Programme which kicked off today has the Theme: Transforming Teacher Professional Development in Nigeria For Improved Learning Out comes in Basic Education.

 

Several papers were presented in the Conference,among which are: Teacher Professionalization in Nigeria- Implementation Status and Challenges, by Prof. Josiah Ajiboye- Registrar, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Enhancing Pre- Service Teacher Production for Professional Teacher Development in Nigeria, presented by Prof. Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle-ES, National Commission for Colleges of Education.

 

Present at the ocassion were the Dr. Hamid Bobboyi- Executive Secretary, UBEC, Mrs Jacqueline Amasike- Director, Teacher Professional Development in the Board, Mr. Andrew Adejo-Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education,Prof. Josiah Ajiboye-Registrar,Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria( TRCN), Kuldip Kaur Karam Singh- Education Consultant, UNICEF Nigeria, Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir- Director/ Chief Executive Officer,National Teachers' Institute ( NTI) amongst other dignitaries. the programme was held at Exclusive  Serene Hotel and Suites, Wuye ,Abuja.
